Red Record | Lynchings in 1893 as Tabulated by Ida B. Wells

Red Record | Lynchings in 1893 as Tabulated by Ida B. Wells

I made this time-aware map application to visualize data that Ida B. Wells collected and tabulated in 1895 on Lynchings of black and brown men. As I've grown into tech, I've also grown into social justice, and it's always special for me to connect the two in a meaningful way | Time-aware Map

Ward Investment Maps

Ward Investment Maps

I created maps of DC and all 8 Wards to show in-progress and future planned District investment projects to utilize during DMPED's Ward by Ward meetings with the Mayor and respective Councilmembers | Ward Investment Maps

Tours and Shows

Tours and Shows

This project has been especially fun because I've gotten the chance to show my friend (singer, songwriter, filmmaker) Be Steadwell that you don't have to be an expert technologist to possess good, interesting data! This is just a start to geolocating her tours and shows; as I'm working through the framework and formatting, Be's continuing to add past and future gigs to the map and underlying database. Economic Intelligence Dashboard

Economic Intelligence Dashboard

One of my first projects in DC Government was to dive into the city's key indicators, like employment, population, and affordable housing. After making a chart on just DC's employment numbers, I received feedback from the public, requesting information on which industries were driving the city's employment.

By the time I completed this chart, I learned several new skills: Tableau, Markdown, working with BLS data, and utilizing APIs with Python | Economic Intelligence Dashboard

Business Incentives Lookup

Business Incentives Lookup

I built this Lookup map application to use as a visual tool for location-based incentives for both government agencies and prospective business owners. More business incentive information can be found at incentives.dc.gov | Lookup Map

I deployed this micro-site with GitHub Pages to tabulate the qualitative accomplishments since 2015 within the office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development | Accomplishments Ticker

Activities for Family Visit

Activities for Family Visit

After fielding touristy suggestions from the Twitterverse (and my family), I created this story map in preparation of my family's visit to DC last summer. Eventually, I'm going to make a true story map journal and swap out the generic pictures with photos and notes from their visit | Story Map Journal
